Club Distributes 1000-Plus Food Packs To Needy Families

Families are still struggling, they need our support and we are here to help.
These were the sentiments shared by the Barara Youth and Social Club founder, Avinesh Singh, after he led his group to distribute a total of 1296 food packs to needy families in areas around the Western Division.
Mr Singh has been working alongside the J Kevi Barara Youth Football Club, Government ministries, Non-Government Organisations (NGO), overseas-based organisations and individuals to put together the club’s project after witnessing what the COVID-19 pandemic had done to most families.
He said although the club was small, their members had the drive and passion instilled in them to offer assistance to struggling families.
“We are not an NGO that is constantly given grants; we are just a group of people who will stand ready to help people in whatever way we can,” he said.
“When we formed, we had joined our hands together to go out and help the poor.
“We have been blessed with supporters who continue to donate and allow our distribution to carry on.”
He said the club had come across many families who had lost their jobs because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It was a very difficult second COVID-19 wave for the whole of Fiji which made many people jobless and even sleep without eating,” he said.
Mr Singh added the club would go further with their assistance.
