A distraught father is seeking answers on how the body of his only child, who went missing three days ago, was found floating in the Rewa River.

Aryan Narayan, 17, was reported missing by his family on Tuesday afternoon after he failed to return home in Wainibokasi, Nausori. His father, Nitesh Narayan was in a state of shock.

Aryan was a Year 11 student of Vunimono High School in Nausori. He was a pure science student and had a dream of becoming an aircraft engineer. Mr Narayan said he wanted to hand over his business and estates to his son when he turned 18.

Mr Narayan said Aryan wanted to eat chicken on Tuesday and asked his mother for money.

Aryan’s mother gave him $18 and he left home to buy a chicken from a nearby shop, however, he failed to return home.

Mr Narayan and his family searched for his son on Tuesday afternoon into the night. He said his wife called Aryan’s mobile phone on Tuesday multiple times, but he did not answer. However, a boy called back and swore at her, and Aryan’s mother said she heard Aryan’s voice in the background. Mr Narayan said that was the last time we heard from him.

“We contacted Vodafone to find out when , Aryan’s phone was last active in Vuci South Road,” he said.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim’s body was found floating in the Rewa River. She said Police were investigating to ascertain the cause of death once a post mortem examination was conducted.

Aryan’s funeral will be held from his home at 2pm today.

Mr Narayan has requested members of the public to come forward with any information regarding what may have transpired with his son.
