Fiji Only Pacific Country To Export Curry To Japan

Fiji is the only Pacific Island country to export curry to Japan.
On average, 350 kilograms of curry is exported on average to Japan every year – which makes up 0.3 per cent of total curry imports by Japan.
Pacific Islands Centre director, Ryuzo Saito made the remarks during an Investment Fiji webinar.
The webinar discussed the promotion of Fiji’s premium export products and opportunities for export products in Japan.
Chocolate, ginger, honey, spices, coffee and feeding products for animals were Fiji’s main agricultural exports to Japan, Mr Saito said.
“Wood, wood chips, mineral water, beer and cosmetics are the country’s other exports to Japan;’ he said.
Investment Fiji acting chief executive officer, Kamal Chetty, said Fiji continued to do well in certain segments of exports.
“Investment Fiji came up with a number of initiatives to promote Fijian products and investment Like a more interactive website and exporter guide,” he said.
Mr Chetty said there were 70 local companies under the Fiji-Japan online trade expo.
