The Yaqara Pastoral Company Limited (YPCL) ranch is far from what it was envisioned to become.

Located along the sunshine coast in Yaqara, Rakiraki, the ranch is rundown.

Its dismal state is linked to the quality and quantity of beef the Yaqara Pastoral Company Limited produces.

Factors that impact beef quality are many. It includes poor feed quality and overgrown pasture.

Yaqara was initially a promising investment. Government established YPCL in 1973.  But there appears to be no real groundwork to boost the supply of beef.
