Rabuka Head Hunts SODELPA Executives

People’s Alliance Party Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka, has approached a top executive member of Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) to join his party for the 2022 General Election.
The Management Board member, who spoke on the condition he would not be named, has been given time to clarify more details about Mr Rabuka’s party. This person plans to decide by the end of this week.
SODELPA General Secretary Lenaitasi Duru said they were aware that Mr Rabuka had approached certain party members.
However, they were not sure who the individuals were and did not have any proof of any such discussions.
“We are not sure, but some may want to go with him. Everybody is hiding their cards right now,” Mr Duru said.
“It’s up to those people if they want to go with him then they can, the decision is theirs.
“However, they have to make sure they resign as members of SODELPA before they leave the party.”
Attempts to get comments from Mr Rabuka yesterday were unsuccessful.
SOLDEPA Management Board Meeting
Meanwhile, a SODELPA management board meeting, which was scheduled for this Friday, has been postponed due to a clash in events.
Mr Duru said the party must sort out a few minor details before confirming the next date.
The agenda of the meeting will include the party’s schedule for 2022, their elections preparations and the next Annual General Meeting.
It is understood that a faction of the party is also moving to include a motion to remove Viliame Gavoka as Party Leader.
