Mapping services and aerial photography are expected to be boosted for the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources after it received two drones.

Donated by the Chinese embassy, the drones, valued at $7000, are expected to provide real time images.

A virtual presentation between the Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo, and the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Jone Usamate was held yesterday.

The drones are expected to help the ministry’s future work with post disaster management.

Made in China, the two drones are amongst continuing efforts contingencies of the Chinese embassy to help Fiji through its Belt and Road initiative.

Ambassador Qian said the Ministry of Infrastructure had indicated interest in learning more about China’s renewable projects.

The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources now has four drones.
