A safe return to classrooms for teachers was boosted by the donation of personal protective equipment, sanitisers and masks to the Ministry of Education.

Charity organisation ADRA Fiji handed over the materials to the ministry’s permanent secretary Anjeela Jokhan.

ADRA Fiji finance director Bou Mawi said education was one of the key areas the organisation supported.

“I am honoured to be here this afternoon to represent ADRA Fiji and its donors in handing over the personal protective equipment to help equip schools – especially those in the most contagious areas, as we prepare for opening next month,” Mr Mawi said.

He said they were aware that the ministry was working tirelessly, putting together measures to ensure children get to learn in a safer environment.

Ms Jokhan thanked the organisation for their continuous support in the field of education

She said there were thousands of children and their families waiting to return to school.

She said the ministry was practicing a safe teaching and learning environment.

She added schools were now ready to welcome back Year 12 and 13 students next week.
