Millions Worth Of Assets Lost In Warehouse Fire At Port Denarau

A fire broke out at Baobab Marine Fiji and Seal Superyachts Fiji warehouse at Port Denarau in Nadi around 12:30am yesterday.
Company owner Chase Smith confirmed this.
His company specialises in yacht repairing and is a super yacht agency in Fiji.
He said investigations by the National Fire Authority (NFA) would determine the cost of damage to his property.
“It might be somewhere around $4 million to $5 million,” he said.
The warehouse that was destroyed had a 700 square metre capacity.
‘Unexpected incident’
Mr Smith said despite the unexpected incident he would continue with the business.
“Nothing we can do about it, but we have to carry on. Our business was fine and we will continue with it,” he said.
“All staff are employed at the moment until further notice. We don’t know what the future holds for them.”
Mr Smith also confirmed there was no loss of life and no one was in the premises when the fire broke out.
Meanwhile, Port Denarau Marina general manager Cynthia Rasch said: “The fire incident looked accidental.
“As if something inside might have erupted, but it is in the hands of the National Fire Authority as they conduct an investigation.”
She said all staff were waiting outside the premises for directives from the management.
