Fiji Ports Terminal Limited (FPTL) has always put their employees first as they are seen to be the catalyst to where this shipping industry is today.

FPTL creates an environment where the employees grow and flourish and it is important to value and recognise their contribution.

This were the words by the FPTL Board Chairman, Hasmukh Patel, while he announced a performance pay for all FPTL personnel in recognition of their dedication and tirelessly efforts towards its operations for the year ended 31 December, 2020.

The announcement was held yesterday at FPTL.

Mr Patel said an amount of $408,000 would be shared amongst 401 members comprised of permanent employees, registered workers and day contractors.

“We are currently navigating through an unprecedented challenge posed by the global pandemic,” he said.

“Economic impact has been tremendous and the port being the critical component and face of trade is one of the first to experience the impact.”

He said despite the increased risks, FPTL accepted all vessels under stringent COVID-19 safety measures and protocols to its ports without any delay or a quarantine requirement.

“And we assisted shipping line in timely exchange of domestic import and export volumes including distributions of trans-shipment cargo to our neighboring nations,” he added.

Mr Patel said the above-mentioned timely servicing of vessels would not have been possible, had it not been the ongoing support, dedication and contribution of FPTL employees.

He expressed the Board & Management’s sincere appreciation to all employees for their valuable contribution during this year.
