Prostate Cancer – What Are The Risks?

Almost 1.3 million new cases in 2018 worldwide. In Fiji there were 41 cases recorded at the CWM hos­pital and 50 cases last year.

Prostate Cancer – What Are The Risks?
Fiji Cancer Society is encorging people to get tested for early detection.

Some of the risks of prostate cancer are:-

  • Age – 50 years and above are required to be tested.
  • Family History – for those that have family history, testing can be done from 45 years of age.
  • Diet- some studies have shown that eating a diet high in processed meat or high fat foods can increase risk. More people are diagnosed with prostate cancer in developed countries because of screening programs.
