Police Blue are the Fiji Rugby Union sanctioned- Super Sev­ens series winners.

This was after they beat Police White 42-35 in their Pool A opener and Wadigi Salvo 36-5 yesterday to book a spot in today’s Cup quarter­final.

This is enough to win the series since Police Blue have already won three of the four tournaments.

Speaking to SUNsports, Police Blue team manager Seremaia Sotia said they had worked on a set plan right from the start of the series.

“We had our pool of players from the last three legs and also during the other local sevens competi­tion,” Sotia said.

“Our plan is all mapped out be­cause we know that majority of our players are going to be selected into the national sevens team.

“Having depth in the squad really didn’t worry us when it comes to selecting the players for the next competition.

“When we were leading the series we have had a plan on our replace­ments and that is why we did not feel any pressure when our senior players left.”

Sotia said some of the players like Kalione Nasoko, Kitione Taliga and Rusiate Nasove have joined the Fi­jian Drua to prepare for the Super Rugby Pacific competition.

“We have had other players trans­ferred to work in police stations around the country.

“Our mission in this tournament is to reach the final because that is always our goal and the standards we had set right from the first leg.

“Our management has already mapped out a plan for next year.

“The thing we are focused on is to finish on a high note.”

Sotia said players have been play­ing well during the season and this reflected on their selection to the national sevens squad.

“I want to thank the boys for their efforts and commitment to the Po­lice jersey.

“This win is dedicated to our play­ers who have moved on with their sporting careers.

“They have worked hard for the win and they deserve it. We want to thank our fans and families for their endless support.

“Our aim is to reach the final and win so we can celebrate with our fans in Nasova.”
