Termination of crushing date at the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) Rarawai mill in Ba will be reviewed next Monday, Sugar Industry Tribunal registrar Timothy Brown said.

The Tribunal, FSC and the Sugar Cane Growers Council (SCGC) is expected to meet on to factor in variables such as the weather, to determine the termination date.

The Tribunal had earlier announced November 25 as the termination date for the Rarawai mill.

Mr Brown said like the grace period given to other mills, Rarawai mill in Ba would not be an exception.

“If there needs to be more crushing, we will allow Rarawai to continue crushing,” Mr Brown said.

SCGC chief executive officer Vimal Dutt said cane growers who were still harvesting in the Lautoka area were advised to deliver their cane to the Rarawai mill.

“We have been able to get through this season well,” Mr Brown said.

The Lautoka mill completed crushing on November 10.

The Labasa mill finished last month.
