The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua hope to at least play a home game here.

This was indicated by interim chief executive officer, Brian Thorburn, at the unveiling of the Fijian Drua jersey at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva on Wednesday night.

Thorburn said the seven home games will be played at seven different venues, one of that will be at the AAMI Park in Melbourne while four will be played in New South Wales and Queensland.

“We have two matches which we tentatively pencilled to bring to Fiji,” Thorburn said.

“I can’t say too much about those at the moment but I need to emphasise that they’re dependent heavily on satisfactory agreements with various stakeholders.”

“Having established ourselves in New South Wales there are substantial additional costs that we will incur to bring games to Fiji; we are quite comfortable that we will bring at least one to Fiji.”

“And I’m optimistic that we will bring a second so stay tuned for that.”

Thorburn added the Fijian Drua jersey colours will be in royal blue and teal which reflect the kinds of deep waters and the spectacular green beauty is designed to reflect the strong nature of the Drua’s home.

Swire Shipping is featured across the front of the jersey.

Other sponsors featured are New Balance, Rooster and PacificAus Sports.

Swire Shipping regional manager for the Pacific, Alex Pattison said: “We are truly thrillingly excited to be naming rights sponsor.”

“Over the years, we have seen immense talent from both young men and women at grassroots rugby in Fiji.”

“Through our sponsorship, we hope to inspire them and provide them a springboard to enter the professional competition for rugby in the region.”
