Three Vendors Denied Entry Into Savusavu Municipal Market

Three market vendors who have refused to receive the COVID-19 vaccine have been denied entry at the Savusavu Municipal Market.
Savusavu Town Council Chief Executive Officer, Seema Dutt confirmed this.
Ms Dutt said these unvaccinated vendors refused to receive any dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of November 1, which resulted in their entry being denied.
She said 149 out of their 153 permanent and casual vendors had been fully vaccinated which accounts for 97 per cent while one vendor is hoping to receive his second jab before November-end.
Ms Dutt reiterated despite many awareness and informative sessions being conducted, the three vendors failed to grasp the importance of receiving their jab.
“Our vaccination effort from the beginning has been concentrated around achieving a 100 per cent fully vaccinated status,” she said.
A vendor who wished to remain anonymous, said vaccination was important for all vendors because of risks involved with the COVID-19 virus.
“We must create a safe and COVID-19 free environment for both vendors and customers because a single community transmission case once identified in the district will negatively impact our business sales with closures and lockdown,” she said.
A total of 116 permanent and 33 casual vendors have received their fully vaccinated status.
