I Wish My Mum Was Here: Adi Lavenia Saukuru

Graduating with a Bachelor of Business (Information System), graduate Adi Lavenia Saukuru has only one regret, and that is that her mother was not able to see it happen.
Adi Lavenia lost her mum in 2014 to breast cancer.
The 21-year-old from Sabeto, Nadi, scooped the Business Department awards for Overall Excellence during the 2021 Fulton Adventist University College graduation at Sabeto Campus, Nadi yesterday.
Her father, Jim Saukuru, became the Project and Development Manager of the University when it was moved to its current location from Tailevu.
“I wish she was here, especially for Fulton College; she wanted me to be part of it because my parents were the pioneers in setting this up this university here in Sabeto,” she said.
“I feel overwhelmed with a big load off my back, through these years and during the pandemic; the assignments were really tough because they wanted us to maintain the standard of the college.”
Adi Lavenia previously attended Nadi Airport School, Sabeto Muslim School, and attended Swami Vivekananda College (SVC), Nadi Muslim College (NMC).
Her older brother Maciu Saukuru said it was one of the proudest moments for their family.
Adi Lavenia is also the younger sister of former Fijian 7s rep William Saukuru.
