Reservoir Issues: Water Cuts In City Areas

Residents in Sakoca are not happy with the daily disruptions in water supply and now some of them are furious after being told to store water for the next two to three days.
The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) issued a statement on Saturday advising customers that the Nagatugatu, Colo-i-Suva, Dokanaisuva, and Tacirua Reservoirs were facing low production levels.
Sakoca resident Amitesh Prasad said they had disrupted supply on a daily basis and now they have to deal with no water supply.
“I just hope that the water trucks are on time.”
“School children are at home and this could become a problem,” he said.
Another Sakoca resident, Reginald Sami, said a new reservoir should be constructed because more people were moving to Suva.
In a statement, the WAF said customers were to store sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least two to three days.
The statement said water carting trucks were on standby and could be requested in case of an emergency by calling short code 1507 through all mobile networks.
