Fiji ‘Talk Of The Town’ At Las Vegas Dive Show

“Whilst there were many hundreds of exhibitors we were overwhelmed that Fiji was the ‘talk-of-the-town’ and a clear winner in bookings for not only 2022, but 2023, 2024, and even as far out as 2025 - excited at supporting tourism to the beautiful Fiji islands."

Volivoli Beach Resort believes the COVID-19 pandemic put them at a marketing edge ahead of other dive resorts around the world.

The comment from manager Geraldine Vakaloloma yesterday, followed the resort’s participation at the annual Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) New Orleans Grand Isle (NOGI) show in Las Vegas.

“Bligh Waters off the resort has soft coral that makes it one of the best dive sites in the world,” she said.

The four day event draws participation from dive resorts and destinations around the world, Ms Vakaloloma said.

“But with the impact of COVID-19, the numbers at this year’s participation would be expected to drop,” she said.

An Instagram post by the company said the awards presented the chance to meet with old friends, make new ones, and help divers plan their trip to Fiji.

The resort’s sales and marketing manager Simon Doughty said the team from Volivoli Beach Resort, Fiji’s premier dive resort, proudly exhibited at DEMA.

Speaking from Las Vegas, he said DEMA was the largest trade-only event in the world for companies doing business in the scuba diving, ocean water sports, and adventure/dive travel industries.

This year, the event was held from November 16 to 19.

“Our keynote message to the world was Fiji is open for business, and open for happiness from December 1st,” Mr Doughty said.

“We would also like to acknowledge the support from Fiji Rum Company and The Distillery Company Fiji for sharing a bit of ‘Fiji taste and Fiji made’ to the show as well of course Tourism Fiji and Fiji Airways.”

“Whilst there were many hundreds of exhibitors we were overwhelmed that Fiji was the ‘talk-of-the-town’ and a clear winner in bookings for not only 2022, but 2023, 2024, and even as far out as 2025 – excited at supporting tourism to the beautiful Fiji islands.”
