When you have a chance to do something great for yourself, never hesitate.

These were the words of 45-year-old Miliana Ratu expressing her feelings after she was admitted to the bar on Friday.

The mother of three is from Wailevu Village in Cakaudrove and has been residing in Suva.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Financial Administration degree from the University of New England in Australia in 2000.

She pursued her career in finance and until she felt that it was the time for her to join the legal bench.

Ms Ratu said it was a challenge for a married women and mothers, in general, to go back to school.

But it was possible for her through the love and support from her family.

She added that after 21 years of graduating, she finally managed to join the legal bench and make her dream come true to be a lawyer.

“I had been waiting for this day to come for a very long time,” Ms Ratu said.

“It took me a while but I am finally here today as a lawyer.

“I have been encouraged and supported by my family to continue to do what I love to and not to quit.

“Everything is made possible with God and with the right support and it was for me,” Ms Ratu said.
