Restarts Crucial In Fiji’s Campaign In Dubai

Winning restarts is crucial for the Fiji 7s men’s if they are to start strong in Dubai tomorrow.
Focus is on lanky Fiji Airways Fijian 7s Joseva Talacolo and skipper Josua Vakurunabili to deliver.
Talacolo’s aerial ball skills, offloads and brutal defensive play will be vital in their campaign.
His ability to win restarts will surely match Vakurunabili’s hard and aggressive running.
Talacolo was named a travelling reserve for the Fijian men’s rugby sevens team that played at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.
After missing out on the final 13 spots for the Olympic Games, he made sure he made the top 13 for the Dubai trip.
Speaking to Sunsports before departure on Saturday Talacola said his volleyball skills helped in his assserial contests
“I used to be an all-rounder when it came to sports back in the village, where I would start from volleyball then move to touch rugby when we had enough players for a game,” Taucolo said.
“It’s the timing of my jump when I spike or block that I transition to rugby,” he said,
“It is easy when I have the height and the rest just comes naturally.
Taucolo and Vakutunabili have been playing well in the local sevens competition during the recent Fiji rugby sevens series.
Fiji’s matches tomorrow: Men – versus France at 8.22pm, meets Canada at 12.12am (Saturday Fiji time.) Their last pool match is against Australia at 4.33pm Fiji time Saturday.
Matches will be live on both FBC TV and Fiji One.
