God Will Reward Me: New JP

It is enjoyable to serve rather than to be paid for.
These were the words of 46-year-old Ranadi Esili Demiana Kubukawa after she took her oath as a newly appointed Justice of Peace officer at the High Court in Suva on Tuesday.
Ms Kubukawa said if she served today, one day she will be served as well.
She said she was not looking for any reward in this service here, but one day she would be rewarded by her God for her service to the people.
Ms Kubukawa said her inspiration to be a JP Officer became known when she witnessed people running around looking for JPs to have their documents certified and signed.
She added that it was a lot of hassle for people including herself to look for a JP who would avail themselves for the services.
“So I thought why not I serve my people, my Fiji,” Ms Kubukawa said.
“I love talking and meeting new people and I said to myself why not I become a JP to help others in their times of need.
“It was an honor for me to be appointed as JP and be a child of Fiji to serve them,” she said.
Ms Kubukawa added that JP services was about availability, commitment and loyalty to the people.
“This service is not something to look for a reward within but to help others.
“There are many people who need support and do not know the legal system and this is where we as JPs come in between the lines to help them,” Ms Kubukawa said.
She added that JPs were an assistance free of charge and it should remain the same.
