More Nurses, Volunteer In Vaxx Card Scam

Nurses in Labasa face suspension amid allegations of vaccination card scams.
This includes incidents where one nurse was allegedly wasting a shot and marking people as vaccinated.
Ministry of Health and Medical Services Permanent Secretary Dr James Fong said the staff in question have been suspended after the ministry completed its investigations.
He said the ministry was not yet ready to release the information.
It is believed that in a recent case, a senior nurse in vaccination drive-through sites was pretending to inject the vaccine but was shooting it in the air.
The incident is believed to have been witnessed by another nurse who reported the matter.
Despite doing this, people were then issued with vaccination cards.
The people who were helped to defraud efforts of keeping people safe, had their names entered into the health database.
It is said that a vial of vaccine can be used to inject at least 15 people.
In another incident, a volunteer from a charity body and a Labasa Hospital nurse was issuing vaccination cards to people.
Another case in Savusavu has come to light where a businessman was found to have a vaccination card, but no record of him was found in the database.
Dr Fong said the matters have been referred to the Police.
