The Fiji Airways Fijian men’s 7s team are going to be further strengthened with the arrival of playmaker Terio Tamani.

The Saiasi Fuli-coached side with 11 debutants finished fourth in the first round of the Dubai Sevens.

This made the Fijians the most inexperienced side in the tournament.

Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer, John O’Connor, said yesterday the team played well despite the lack of experience.

The only experienced players in the side were captain, Josua Vakurinabili and Waisea Nacuqu.

“Terio is available for selection but the coach is going to make the final call when he finalises his squad of 13 players,” O’Connor said.

Vakurinabili said, it has been a challenge to lead a team of 11 players making their debut in the series.

“My word to them was to treat every game as the final,” he told World Rugby TV.

Impact player

Impressive among the debutants were lanky forward Joseva Talacolo and elusive winger Filipe Sauturaga.

Talacolo’s high work rate saw him placed second on the DHL Impact Player standings.
