11,000 Could Be Employed: Saneem

The Fijians Election Office is looking at employing approximately 11,000 people for the 2022 General Elections as the recruitment drive took place at Kshatriya Hall in Suva yesterday.
Hundreds of hopeful Fijians came to be part of the drive which featured a written test of 20 questions.
“We had the online version of the drive. In that we received a significant number of applications. 3000 I think,” said Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem.
“Those who had worked for us in previous elections re-registered. Those who had placed an expression of interest and had previously worked for us in the last elections, they will undergo training and they will be placed in polling centres.
“If someone had worked as a presiding officer in the 2018 elections and they have put in an application to work in the 2022 elections, most likely they will be presiding officers again but at another polling venue.”
So far the Fijian Elections Office has registered 96,920 voters. Of these 12,902 are new voters while 84,024 are voters who have come for the new cards.
The FEO has also received 143 applications for name change on the voter identification cards, 99 of these have been processed.
Mr Saneem said a recruitment drive would be held in the Western Division on December 8.
