Police Probe Death Of 14-Year-Old

Police are investigating the case of 14-year-old boy who was found lying motionless along Drasa Avenue at around 10pm on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said a security officer had heard a commotion before an alleged fight broke out between the victim (Ratu Alivereti Spenser) and two others.
Shortly after the security guard found the victim lying motionless on the side of the road.
Assisted by another man they conveyed the victim to Lautoka Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The security guard, who is alleged to have witnessed what transpired, said the incident started at 10pm on Wednesday.
“I saw four young boys sitting in the dark near the bowser at a spot where street boys sit and allegedly sniff glue.
“Then I saw two of them involved in a fight.
“A few minutes later, I saw this big guy was trying to carry this young boy as he seemed to be motionless. I called him to bring the boy to where I was seated.
“When he brought the boy, two boys who passed by called out loud to us that he was involved in a hit and run accident.
“We stopped a cab to take him to the hospital.”
A relative of the victim, Ilaisa Veidreyaki, said the boy lived at Vakatora Housing in Lautoka.
“After the separation of his parents, Spenser stayed with relatives. He was close only to his grandparents and lived with them,” Mr Veidreyaki said.
“He was a well-mannered boy and his death has shocked the family.”
Ms Naisoro said investigations would continue.
