‘Report Any Form Of Violence You See’

Women have a responsibility to report any form of violence when they see one.
This was highlighted during an awareness programme on Violence Against Women and Children organised by the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre in Labasa to members of the Labasa Multicultural Centre (LMC).
LMC administrator Prabha Naicker said during their usual art and craft display, they decided to make women aware of their roles in the case of a domestic violence.
“These ladies live in rural communities and they need to know where and how they can get help,” Ms Naicker said.
LMC member, Shabina Wati said the awareness was informative as she was not aware of the different forms of violence that exist in homes and societies.
Ms Wati said violence existing in societies has become a norm that made it impossible for women to identify the type of violence and speak out about the challenges that they face.
“Women are always at the suffering end especially during this pandemic as shown in the statistics.
“This kind of awareness motivates us to know more and will help more women get the help and protection they need during a domestic violence crisis,” she said.
