Anjeela Jokhan: Year 12 And 13 Students Must Pass Examinations
Permanent Secretary for Education, Heritage and Arts Anjeela Jokhan.

There is no automatic progress for Year 12 and Year 13 students.

This has been confirmed by the Ministry of Education Heritage and Arts permanent secretary Anjeela Jokhan.

Ms Jokhan said students who would not pass their external examinations would not be progressing to the next level.

“The automatic promotion system is up to Year 11.”

“From Year 12, the progress is decided by the external examination,” Ms Jokhan said.

“Similarly, tertiary placement is determined by the Year 13 marks.”

Year 12 and Year 13 external examinations have been moved to February 2022.

Year 12 examination will now be held from February 7 to 17, 2022 and results are expected to be released on April 6.

Year 13 examination will be held from February 1 to 11, 2022 and results are expected to be released on March 17, 2022.

Concerned parent of Year 12 student Milika Senileba of Laucala Beach said that as a parent this means she had to make sure her child is on track to pass.

Another parent Davendra Sharma of Nabua said COVID-19 has brought new challenges and this was one of them, but the onus is on teachers, students, and parents.
