TLTB Staff Fronts Court On Bribery Charges

An iTaukei Lands Trust Board senior research officer was produced in the Magistrates Court in Suva yesterday charged with two counts of bribery.
Between September 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019, Josaia Waqairatu allegedly solicited $450 from two people as an inducement to or reward for performing duties in his capacity as a public servant.
Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption lawyer Joseph Work informed the court that first phase disclosures had been served.
Waqairatu was released on $1000 bail bond and a stop departure order was issued against him.
He was also ordered not to re-offend whilst on bail, to reside at his fixed address in Tuatua, Labasa, to surrender all his travel documents and not to apply for new travel documents.
Furthermore, he was ordered to report to the Labasa Police Station every second Friday of the month.
His case has been adjourned to January 10, 2022.
