Viani Bay Resort owner, Marina Walser and Sophie Boyd, a British doctor living in Australia, was the first guest to check into Viani Bay Resort, Taveuni.

Guest numbers for Viani Bay Resort are likely to increase during the approaching festive season.

Sophie Boyd, a British doctor living in Australia, was the first guest to check into Viani Bay Resort, Taveuni.

Dr. Boyd did the PADI freediving course and went diving off the Rainbow Reef, including the Great White Wall.

She also visited the resort’s coral nursery.

Resort owner, Marina Walser’s comment followed the arrival of the resort’s first guest.

She said the resort was expected to be fully booked from December 13 to early January.

A significant increase in guest arrival was expected for the period December 20 to January 2, Ms Walser said.

“We could have accepted more guests if we had more accommodation,” Ms Walser said.

“We follow all of the Care Fiji Commitment requirements,” she said.

A maximum of six guests can stay in individual bungalows at any one time, in the interest of social distancing, Ms Walser said.

“This was already part of our private experience concept before COVID-19,” she said.

The resort engaged the services of taxi owner Jass Prasad for guest transfers from the airport to Wairiki landing.

“Jass was the first taxi driver to be vaccinated and the first certified Care Fiji Commitment holder for Taveuni.”

“We love to work with him as he is very reliable and thorough.”

“Guests love his friendliness,”she said.
