Babasiga Lions End Suva’s Mission To Defend Digicel Premiere League

Suva’s hopes of defending the Digicel Premier League was dashed by a plucky Labasa side who scored a 1-0 upset win yesterday.
What happened: Labasa backed by their fans started strongly against Suva. They had Suva defending desperately as they looked for an early goal.
This paid off in the 20th minute when striker Siotame Kubu set-up his partner Ratu Anare who dribbled past two Suva defenders before blasting the ball to the roof of the net.
Suva came back strongly looking for the equaliser but the Labasa defenders worked overtime in keeping them out.
Halftime: Suva 0-1 Labasa.
Suva were determined to score the equaliser but could not penetrate the Labasa defence.
Suva captain Christopher Wasasala got his red card in the dying stages of the match.
And moments later Ilisoni Logaivau and Suva’s Filipe Baravilala were also red carded.
Navua Fightback
Minnows Navua came from behind to hold Nadi 1-1 in their Digicel Premier League clash at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.
What happened: Nadi striker Sakaraia Naisua scored in the 12th minute to put the hosts ahead.
Navua fought back with Vinit Chand scoring from the penalty spot in the 39th minute.
Halftime: Nadi 1- 1 Navua.
The home side had more chances to score but the ball sailed over the cross bar on many occasions.
