Revamped Bridge Brings Hope To Namako Residents

Residents of Namako Settlement in Bocalekeleke in Valebasoga, Labasa were all smiles after a newly revamped concrete access bridge was opened by the Assistant Minister for Sugar, George Vegnathan on Monday.

 

Namako resident and women’s club president, Kalesiti Naceba, said promises made by the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, during his visit back in 2019, had been fulfilled and this was appreciated.

Ms Naceba said the bridge would greatly assist children travel to school during flood time ensuring their education was not affected.

“The elderly and sickly will no longer have to worry about their health during heavy downpour or flooding since vehicles can travel on the concrete bridge without difficulty,” she said.

 

Assistant Minister Vegnathan said the new crossing was in line with the ministry and Fiji Sugar Co-operation (FSC) commitment to ensure residents had proper road access to visit Government amenities and the freedom to travel with ease.
