Macuata Community Thank A-G And Fijian Government For Christmas Gift

People of Lagalaga, Nubu and Kurukuru in Macuata Province are thankful to Government for blessing them with the best Christmas gift ever.
Yesterday 103 households in these areas received electricity for the first time in history.
Moreover, the Lagalaga Sanatan Primary School, Lagalaga Sanatan Kindergarten and four teachers’ quarters have started to receive electricity supply.
Community and stage two project spokesperson Rajen Prasad said people’s excitement could not be put in words because the provision of electricity changed their lifestyle.
“We thank the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for fulfilling his promise,” Mr Prasad said.
“During his visit to the people of Lagalaga in 2019, a request for free electricity installation was made.”
He said this assistance also has benefitted the teachers and students.
“Darkness, long years of generator use, bearing fuel cost and struggles will now be a worry of the past,” he said.
“We also would like to thank Assistant Minister for Employment Alvick Maharaj, Assistant Minister for Rural and Maritime Development Vijay Nath and Minister for Agriculture Mahendra Reddy for always contacting people to make sure we receive power supply before Christmas.”
He also thanked Omega Electric Limited for doing the full wiring in all the houses, schools and quarters and the Energy Fiji Limited team for its efficient work.
The official opening will be done next year.
