5-Year-Old Girl Of Navosa, First Drowning Victim Of 2022
Police are urging parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children at all times.

A 5-year old child is believed to be the country’s first drowning victim of the year.
A Police statement said the victim who was residing at the Saukaba Settlement, Nukuilau, Navosa was seen by a group of boys at around 2pm in the yesterday near the Sigatoka river bank. She was allegedly told to go home.
It’s reported that the boys turned away for a few minutes and when they looked back the child had disappeared.
A search was conducted by all residents of Saukaba Settlement.
The victim’s body was found just before midnight. Investigations continue.
Police are urging parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children at all times.
“It takes a matter of minutes for an accident or tragedy to occur, and we reiterate the importance of proper supervision at all times.”
