Denarau Golf and Racquet Club is hosting the Cardo’s single stableford event to­morrow to raise funds for the Ani­mals Fiji charity.

Club manager Amitesh Chandra said the event marks the start of the 2022 season.

While entry fee is $10, the winner gets a $200 voucher from the spon­sors.

“2021 was a challenging year for many of us. We are grateful for the continued support from donors, and volunteers.

“ They have been working very hard during the pandemic and its good to recognize their efforts.

“To secure a sponsor for this wor­thy cause is a good way to start the 2022 season,” Chandra said.

“ It has been a tough year for eve­ryone in the community and it’s time we have some normalcy.

“ This is a good way to start 2022 and to have this tournament will really help Fijians in the commu­nity.

“To help a neighbour’s animal make it to one of our clinics, to help de-sex a roaming dog on your street, sponsor one to get the vet­erinary services is what this event is about,” he said.

“ We hoope this kind of fundrais­ing and charity work will help the animals in our community.”

The event is scheduled from 7am – 2pm.

Meanwhile the next event on the calendar is the KK’s Hardware/Mali Pest Control sponsored four- person Ambrose on Saturday, Jan­uary 29.

Chand said entries close on Janu­ary 26 as only 25 teams will partici­pate.

“This is on a first come first served basis,” he said.

The entry fee is $400 per team in­cluding lunch.

Prizes: Team – First, second and third plus novelty prizes. NTP for: 3rd, 7th, 11th and 17th holes; long­est drive – 1st hole. Registration starts at 9am with 10am tee-off: shotgun start.
