Let’s Go Local: Kamlesh Kumar – ‘I Would Love To Go To Taveuni’

Our local travel promoter featured today hasn’t seen much of Fiji but has heard stories of the natural heritage that lies hidden in the Garden Island of Fiji.

Kamlesh Kumar, originally from Nadi, is the managing director of the newly-opened Taste of Sydney in Namoli Avenue, Lautoka.

He has put Taveuni on his bucket list when he finds the time to relax from his now busy schedule travelling between Australia and Fiji and running a business and farm here.

Though born in Fiji, he was educated and lived in Australia most of his life.

With his three older brothers having died, he has been left with the task of managing the family’s sugarcane farm.

He tells of his background beginnings growing up in a farm.

This has rooted him firmly and one of the major reasons for his return to Fiji and help drive the economy.

Things people don’t know about you.
– I was working for insurance companies especially dealing with motor vehicle insurance as well as a panel beater.

– I am a big fan of football

– Although I have been away from Fiji for so long, I can never forget it.

People ask: Why come back to Fiji? I say why not?

You were brought up here.

You take little from Fiji but you give back more.

This is why I have returned and invested the earnings, I made while working in Australia, here.

What Is One Place In Fiji You Would Love To Visit And Why?
I’ve been to Labasa.

That’s the furthest part of the North I’ve been.

But Taveuni – I have to see for myself.

My friends have told so many stories about it.

They say it’s one of the best islands to be in and island you can find.
