Fijians who have tested positive during the third wave of COVID-19 are grateful to the Government for providing them with food rations on time.

To date, a total of around 40,689 groceries and essential items packs (which includes 31,866 new household packs) have been distributed by the Fijian Government.

The Fijian Government has distributed around 63,137 ration packs.

Maria Kuruduadua of Nepani Road in Nasinu said they were not expecting to receive the rations on time.

“We started isolating from Saturday and on Sunday my husband received the call that we would be receiving ration.

“On Monday, the ration was dropped off,” Ms Kuruduadua said.

“The food ration consists of everything I would buy when I go shopping. I did not believe what was inside the sack when I opened it, and I am thankful.

“When the Government says they do not leave anyone behind, they mean it and I hope politicians will stop playing politics with what Fiji currently faces.”

Ms Kuruduadua said teamwork was important when dealing with the pandemics and the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Cody in Fiji.

“Let’s put politics aside and work together because we all have a common goal and that is to make Fiji a better place for everyone.

“If politicians treat every issue as a way of destroying each other then how can we be better than what we were,” she said.

“I want to thank the Government for helping every Fijians in every way they can. This means a lot to us.”
