A 38-year-old, accused of killing his bedridden father, will take his plea at the High Court in Lautoka next week.

The accused, Korotolu Tasere, of Draubuta Village in Navosa, is charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged that Tasere was under the influence of alcohol when he allegedly assaulted his father as he lay on his bed.

The victim, who was in his 60s, sustained injuries and was rushed to the Navosa Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The alleged assault of his bedridden father resulted in his death.

The accused appeared before Judge Justice Sunil Sharma on Tuesday.

Counsel from the Legal Aid Commission sought seven days’ time to advise Tasere of his plea.

The State did not have any objections on the same.

The matter will be called for plea on January 25, 2022.

The accused has been further remanded by the High Court.
