Villagers of Vanuabalavu affected by tidal surges after the volcano eruption in Tonga a week ago have thanked the Government for providing timely food rations.
Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete and Provincial Administrator Lau, Lakobo Rai distributed the food rations at the Lomaloma Jetty on Saturday.
Boitaci Village headman, Apisai Turaga thanked the Government and said they were not expecting to receive food rations.
Muamua Village headman, Viliame Finau and Lomaloma headman, Luke Qionibaravi shared the same sentiments.
There are 18 villages in Vanuabalavu.
