Village Nurse Will Be Paid, Minister Tells Lomaloma Villagers

Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete reassured villagers of Lomaloma in Vanuabalavu, Lau that their village nurse (Nasi-ni-koro) would be paid.
This was after villagers asked Dr Waqainabete why their Nasi-ni-Koro has not been paid for the past five to six months.
“They are supposed to be paid. We will look into this matter,” Dr Waqainabete said.
He said it was important for people to raise their queries during the talanoa session, especially when government delegates were present.
“Villages should have a talanoa session where the agenda should include healthy living and the importance of education,” he said.
“A lot of times during village meetings we tend to talk about unnecessary things, but I hope that when you have your next meeting you will include important topics on the agenda.”
He said it is important that people raise their queries so that something is done.
