The New Ba Hospital

The multimillion-dollar Ba Hospital, which boasts the country’s most modern public health facility, is scheduled to open on January 31.

Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum revealed this in Ba during the weekend.

He added that once equipment comes into the hospital, it would be open to the general public.

“There’s been a lot of talk about the new Ba Hospital. We have had a number of works that were delayed because of COVID-19,” he said.

“The opening date of the Ba Hospital is subject to a couple of the equipment coming on time; as you know because of COVID-19, freight issues. So with all the equipment if they come on time, we’re looking at opening the hospital on the 31st of January of this year.”

“There were some issues; there was some water inundation into the hospital that’s currently being fixed up,” he said.

Make use of services at GP

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum added a lot of people were taking advantage of the initiatives that the Government have put in place.

He added that the Government, in the recent past, has spent a million dollars where Fijians would seek services either to the public system, public hospital or to the nursing station.

He reiterated that it started off when the country suffered from COVID-19 at a peak.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said while they wanted a lot of people to have urgent access to doctors services, they did not want to see everyone rushing to one particular place.
