The Fiji Roads Authority representative Marika Vosa says contractors will be on Moala Island to improve their roads in the next two months.

This was after Keteira Village headman, Maika Takayawa, during a talanoa session yesterday, asked questions about the improvement of the road that leads to Nasoki Village.

Mr Takayawa said: “There is a need for the road to be improved as they go to Nasoki Nursing Station for check-up. We have to go by dinghy to go to Nasoki Village and we would be grateful if something is done about the road. We hope that a road is properly constructed so that everyone can reach Nasoki faster when they are not feeling well.”

Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said: “Since there is difficulty in road access, Keteira Village can go to Cakova Nursing Station or a nurse can visit the village once a week for the time being.

“While you wait for the road to be improved, you can go to one of the nearest nursing stations.”

The eight villages in Moala include: Nasoki, Keteira, Naroi, Maloku, Nuku, Vadra, Cakova and Vunuku.
