School Terms For 2022 Confirmed

The new 2022 school term dates have been released.

The first term for all classes starting from Early Childhood Education (ECE) to Year 13 will begin on April 11, and end on July 8, 2022.

Term 2 is from July 18, to October 6, 2022, and the third term is from October 17, to December 16.

The dates were confirmed in a circular to all Divisional, District Officers and Heads of Schools yesterday from the Permanent Secretary for Education, Anjeela Jokhan.

Welcoming Years 8 to 13 students back to school on Monday, Minister for Education, Premila Kumar, said resumption dates for Term 4 for ECE to Year 7 students would be announced soon.

The fourth school term is expected to end on February 18, for Years 12 and 13 exam students and April 1, for ECE to Year 11 students.

Ms Kumar was advising parents not to send their children to school if they or anyone in the household was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

“We all have been going through trying times due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Ms Kumar said.

“The different variants of the virus have exposed us all to challenges that we had never faced before. Despite that, we have endured and showed resilience by closely following the frequent and timely advisories from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and our partners WHO and UNICEF.

“The Government’s well-strategised plan for vaccination and Fiji achieving around 93 per cent full vaccination was the best option for addressing the challenges.”
