Krishna Targets Second AFC Cup

ATK Mohun Bagan and Fijian captain Roy Krishna is excited to play in the Asian Football Confederation Cup this year.
AFC has confirmed that the side will play the winner between Machhindra FC (Nepal) and Blue Star (Sri Lanka) in AFC Cup preliminary round two scheduled in April.
Krishna who is expected to lead the Flemming Serristlev coached Bula Boys side at the FIFA World Cup qualifying is adamant of the outcome.
The Siberia, Labasa native will be the first Fijian to play back to back in the AFC Cup, after last year’s devastating run.
“We are excited to be playing and working our way again towards the AFC Cup this year,” he said.
“Last year we made good progress so hopefully this year we can make it all the way. It wasn’t easy but we had a good run and played against some big clubs so it was still a win for us in terms of exposure and more game time.”
“This time we hope to progress even further and we aim to reach the finals. Any team reaching this stage is a tough team so we will go prepared.
At the moment we are halfway through the season and despite some setbacks due to Covid we are hoping that we complete the season on a high.
The AFC Cup preliminary round kicks off just after the Indian Super League season completes.
“We will be ready to take on the challenge. So far we’ve played behind closed doors for two seasons. It’s not the usual football that we are used to without the spectators and the cheers,” he said.
“Living and playing in a bubble has been challenging but we are still very grateful that we can still play the sport we love,” he added.
Meanwhile, ATKMB in their last match hosted Odisha FC to a nil-all draw on Monday. The side takes on East Bengal SC this Sunday.
