Witness Describes ‘Horrific’ Body Find

What was supposed to be a routine morning walk to the main road in order to catch a bus to work, turned shocking for Tony Vereadali.
This is after he saw the lifeless body of a man at the edge of the water by the Toga Bridge which he crosses every day.
Described as a tall man in his late 20s or early 30s, the deceased was wearing an orange shirt with a white round neck t-shirt inside and long blue denim jeans without any shoes.
The 55-year-old eyewitness said it was during low tide when the body was discovered and a suspected head injury with half-an-inch deep gash could be seen.
“He must have been hit with a blunt object and it seemed like his body was dumped here,” Mr Vereadali surmised.
“There is no way his body could have washed up to here because the water flows in from the Rewa River in the opposite direction.
“Every morning I walk to the main road to catch the bus, this is the first time for me to come across something horrific like that.”
Digger Operator Fayum Khan who works in the nearby dredging company also described the body find as horrific.
Police investigations continue after the man was identified yesterday by a family member.
