Acting PM Leads Govt Delegation’s Reguregu

Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum led the Government delegation in presenting its reguregu (traditional condolences) to the family of the late minister Osea Naiqamu yesterday.
The event was held at the Naiqamu residence in Natabua, Lautoka where all the FijiFirst ministers and Members of Parliament were present.
Ministry of iTaukei Affairs executive Taniela Nocotabua, who spoke on behalf of the Government, said the late minister gave his best in serving the country.
“He did serve the Government well until he died. He was bedridden and sick for sometime, but he carried on with his duty to the nation,” he said.
“The Government ministers and their various departments’ presence here shows how instrumental he was.”
Taukei Navo Ratu Meli Saukuru, who received the delegation on behalf of the family and Vanua Nasesevia, thanked the Government team for its presence.
He said their presence brought peace and comfort to the family of the late Mr Naiqamu.
“We are thankful for your presence to show the bond within your members.”
The former Minister for Forestry passed away on January 23, at his residence.
He is survived by wife, five children and grandchildren.
The celebration of his life begins with the funeral entourage that will depart Lautoka Hospital at 10am today.
He will later be laid to rest at Taunamasi, Nawaicoba, Nadi.
