Brent Hill, the chief executive officer of Tourism Fiji, has been named in the list of Top 25 Tourism & Travel Promoters 2021 by Texas, US-based International Hospitality Institute.

The annual recognition which does not require application, is part of the institute’s Global Hospitality Awards category.

Mr Hill, who was only appointed to lead Tourism Fiji in July the past year came at a time our industry and in the rest of the world were facing a standstill because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

He is recognised among global leaders in the industry from Saudi Arabia, Africa, Europe, South America, North America.

Mr Hill said it was unexpected.

“It wasn’t something we applied for,” he said.

“It was just something that we got recognised for, which is great.”

“But it’s very much about the team and what the team are doing.”

“From that perspective, that’s an encouraging thing to say we’re on the right path and we’re doing the right things and getting the results.”

“And also, it’s really nice to get that recognition.”

Mr Hill has a proven record for growing tourism numbers.

In his immediate past role as executive director of marketing for the South Australian Tourism Commission, he was credited for growing total tourism expenditure in the region by 53 per cent.

On its LinkedIn page, the International Hospitality Institute said: Winners will be featured in a special edition of IHI’s Global Hospitality Magazine.
