Businessman Donates Face Masks, Shields To West Schools

A Nadi businessman says it is his responsibility to look after the children in the country.
The managing director for Al-Hamd Smart Living, Ashfaaq Khan distributed face masks and face shields to at least four schools in the Western Division including Vuda District School, Lautoka Andhra Sangam College, Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SKMC) in Nadi and Nadi Muslim College.
Each school received 1000 face masks and 50 face shields.
Mr Khan said together with his team, they would be donating a total of 20,000 face masks and 500 pieces of face shields around the country.
“This is basically to cater for underprivileged students who are unable to get hold of a mask when coming to school,” he said.
“We have already distributed 4000 face masks and our team is looking at more schools.
“I would like to encourage other business people to help, business is not only about making money but it also comes with a responsibility in giving back to our communities as entrepreneurs and as businessmen, we are the ones who are going to recover our economy from the side effects of this COVID-19.”
Mr Khan strongly believed in the statement that ‘only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile’.
Sangam SKMC principal Nazerin Rehman acknowledged Mr Khan and his team for their assistance.
“We are in dire need of the face masks and sanitizers including the face shields that will be used by the teachers and students and this will be very helpful,” said Ms Rehman.
Lautoka Andhra Sangam College principal, Aruna Singh said the school was grateful to Al-Ahmed for their kind contribution towards the staff and students.
