QVS Old Boys Donate Vouchers for Needy Students in Lautoka

The Lautoka District Council of Social services received 65 Post Fiji school vouchers worth $50 on Saturday.
The vouchers were donated by the Queen Victoria School Old Boys Association to assist children affected by Tropical Cyclone Cody this year.
QVS Old Boys Lautoka committee member Osea Umuumulovo said the recipients were identified from statistics provided by the Fiji Council of Social Services ( FCOSS).
“This is our (Association) first pilot project,” Mr Umuumulovo said
“We were sitting down one day and we were talking about education in Fiji. Because of the lockdown, some students might not be comfortable with going back to school. They might lack the necessary tools, so this is why we are working with FCOSS to encourage student to go back to school.”
He said most of the donors for the project were from overseas.
The Lautoka District Council of Social services chair, Litia Masei, said they identified needy families from 20 communities in Lautoka from Matawalu Village to Sabeto.
“Some of these families lost their stationery during the flood so I thank QVS Old Boys for their assistance.”
