Psychiatric Report Ordered To Be Sent To Court

Justice Sunil Sharma on Tuesday ordered that a copy of the psychiatric review report from Saint Giles Hospital for murder accused, Korotolu Tasere, be sent to the High Court in Lautoka and the respective counsels.

Accused Korotolu Tasere is represented by Legal Aid Commission lawyer, Kelly Vulimainadave while the state is represented by Taitusi Tuenuku.

Tasere is alleged to have assaulted his elderly father at their home at Draubuta Village in Navosa in July 2021 resulting in his death.

It is alleged that Tasere was drunk when he assaulted his father as he laid on his bed.

The victim who was in his 60s sustained injuries and was rushed to the Navosa Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Justice Sharma directed the Police escorting team to escort Tasere to the St Giles Hospital for a psychiatric review and that before leaving, the Lautoka officer in charge of the remand centre needed to seek an appointment from the hospital.

The case was adjourned to February 22 for mention.
