Learning Never Stops, Says Silpa

Growing up, Silpa Shayal Kumar was frequently reminded of the importance of education.
Holding on to everything her parents taught her, Ms Kumar graduated with an Executive Master of Business Administration last week.
Ms Kumar, who has six years of experience in the Pharmacy business, decided to study arts to prepare herself for management roles in future and to gain knowledge from an administration viewpoint.
Despite the challenges she encountered, Ms Kumar always reminded herself to endure now and enjoy later.
The former Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College student of Nadi is currently the supervising pharmacist at the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital in Suva.
“My parents are both teachers so from the start the importance of education was taught to us therefore they pushed me to further my studies,” Ms Kumar said.
“Through my achievements I have uplifted the morale of most of my family members and most of them are pursuing further studies. My sister is about to finish her MBBS as well and I believe I act as a role model for her.
“I believe that you should always push yourself to do better because you never know what you are capable of unless you try to.”
She said COVID-19 was one of the challenges she encountered while studying as she had to shift from face-to-face mode of learning to online learning.
Ms Kumar said learning never stops.
“Professionally I am a registered pharmacist therefore the current programme that I have completed was totally new to my background study, but this programme made me improve in areas which need leadership and development,” she said.
