Talks To Acquire Foreshore For A New Picnic Spot

Dialogue has begun to securing new land, specifically the foreshore, for an additional picnic spot at Wailoaloa, in the Nadi area.

Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar on Monday joined Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Jone Usamate in talks on acquiring the piece of land for the Nadi Town Council’s development plan. Ms Kumar said this is part of town council’s development proposal which intends to promote better and safe space for the general public.

Ms Kumar added that the land would also have facilities including parking space for the picnickers.

The project was also aligned with the Government’s National Development Plan and Sustainable Development Goal 11 on Sustainable Cities and Towns.
